
We’re excited to tell you about Game Design 101, the new game design course that we have just launched. In this course, students learn all the basics of game programming as they build the Drone Menace arcade game from start to finish.
This course is perfect for students interested in gaming and have either completed Tynker’s Introduction to Programming course, or already know some programming basics.
The course includes interactive lectures and hands on tutorials, and students are challenged with projects that let them build their own games. Parents can easily monitor their child’s progress online.
Packed with over 40 engaging programming activities, the course systematically introduces key game design concepts, like:
- build a scoring system
- add sound effects
- add sound effects
- keep track of players’ lives
- detect collisions between actors
- program a game so a player can lose or win
- control the game with messaging
